Committee Chairpersons
Spirit Wear – Kelley Somerville, ssks29@comcast.net Spirit wear provides a selection of hoodies, shirts, hats, etc., with the UMS logo and other UMS print for purchase. County Council Representative – Mike Hutton, Mlh-54@comcast.net The County Council Representative attends the monthly Frederick County PTA Council meetings and reports at the monthly UMS PTSA meeting the news and updates of PTA. Staff Appreciation – Tammy Mitnick, stmitnick@comcast.net and Cindy Unangst The Staff Appreciation Committee holds the annual dinner for UMS staff during the fall and spring conferences, shows our appreciation to our teachers and staff during Staff Appreciation Week in May and holds other events through the school year. Reflections Program – We are still looking for someone to chair this committee. The Reflections Program is a National PTA program that encourages expression through art, music and written word. Volunteer Coordinator – Ines Serra, serra1020@yahoo.com The Volunteer Coordinator contacts the membership to find volunteer help when it is needed in the school or on a PTSA Committee. Communications/PTSA News – Trudy Griebenow – trudy.griebenow@ fcps.org This position works closely with the PTSA President to send out UMS news using UMS PTSA e-mail and works with Principal Vetter to get the monthly Hawk Talk ready to go out through Find Out First. Winter Dance – We are still looking for someone to chair this committee. The Winter Dance is attended by all three grade levels and is put on by the PTSA. All proceeds from the event help fund the 8th grade Celebration at the end of the school year. Book Fair – We are still looking for someone to chair this committee. The Book Fair is held in the Media Center during the Fall Conferences. All proceeds from the Book Fair go to the Media Center. Membership – Marybeth Weiss, marybeth705@yahoo.com The Membership Committee attends orientations, gatherings, etc. to sign up members. They put together, print and distribute the annual directory as well as distributing membership cards. They work closely with the Treasurer. Fundraising – We are still looking for someone to chair this committee. This important committee oversees the fundraising efforts that provide the basis of our PTSA budget. Nominating Committee – Nicole Robertson, nmrmoog@aol.com This committee presents the slate of officers to be voted on at the end of each school year. Audit Committee – We are still looking for someone to chair this committee. This committee meets one time only to audit the financial records of our PTSA.
Meetings
The UMS PTSA Meetings are held in the UMS Media Center at 7 PM on the second Monday of each school month. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend all meetings.
