Lunch Book Clubs

 

Monthly

FCPL Urbana Branch Teen Librarian, Ms. Mary Ann Foltz, will be sponsoring lunch book clubs for each grade level throughout the year. The monthy book ties in with the FCPS Language Arts theme students are studying in LA class.

Grade 8
October 8--The Plain Janes by Cecil Castellucci (Friendship Theme)
January 14--Eye of the Crow by Shane Peacock (Mystery Theme)
April 9--Whale Talk by Chris Crutcher (Tolerance Theme)

Grade 7
November 5--Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen (Survival Theme)
February 11--Uglies by Scott Westerfeld (Science Fiction Theme)
May 13--A Thousand Never Evers by Shana Berg (Prejudice Theme) 

Grade 6
December 3--Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch by Joseph Delaney (Fantasy Theme)
March 11--Rules by Cynthia Lord (Challenges Theme)
May 13--Poison Ivy by Amy Goldman Koss (Acceptance Theme)

Books are availalbe a month prior to the lunch in the media center. Students must have an FCPL library card to check out the books.

   

Black-Eyed Susan Voting

Maryland's Reader's Choice Award!

Students who have read three or more of this year's Black-Eyed Susan Nominees are eligible to vote for their favorite of the 10 books in Mid April.

Students who have read five or more will be invited to a pizza party to celebrate after the winning novel is named. The last day to vote will be April 20th. The winner will be announced in early May.
