What's going on in our class the week of Mar 15?

Skill Focus:  Mood     

This week we will  focus on identifying and evaluating the mood in a literary text.  Our students are learning that the setting is very important when determining the mood in a story, poem, or play.  In class we are reading some short pieces from Action magazine, including a play about the life of poet Maya Angelou.

In addition, during small group activity time, the students continue to work on the Read About program on the classroom computers.  This program is provided by Scholastic to help students improve their reading comprehension skills in "Social Studies," "Science," and "Life," at a pace and lexile level designed especially for them.
